Our Mission

The main mission of the Department of Psychology at Iğdır University is to understand and explain human behavior, mental processes and social relations in depth with a scientific approach. Our department aims to increase the welfare of individuals and societies by using current knowledge and methods in the field of psychology.​

Our department provides students with both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills by introducing them to the basic concepts, theories and research methods of psychology. It also emphasizes the development of students' critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.​

In line with our mission, we aim to conduct original and innovative research by following the current scientific developments in the field of psychology, to present the knowledge obtained to the service of society and to develop interdisciplinary collaborations.

Our Vision

The vision of our Psychology Department is to become a leading academic center at the regional and national level and to carry out high quality education, research and practice activities in the field of psychology. Our department aims to contribute to the development of the science of psychology and to offer the scientific knowledge it has obtained to the service of society.​

In this direction, our department plans to achieve the following goals:​

1. Establishing and strengthening a qualified academic staff​

2. Opening and continuous development of undergraduate and graduate education programs​

3. Conducting original and innovative research in the field of psychology​

4. Transforming scientific knowledge into social benefit​

5. Supporting interdisciplinary studies by developing national and international collaborations
